Patients in Alpharetta, GA and the surrounding communities are welcome to visit Atlanta Center for Dental Health to learn about the advantages of Invisalign treatment over conventional braces. Invisalign has become a popular choice for many patients seeking treatment of misaligned teeth.
Dr. Bradley Hepler describes Invisalign as a great treatment option for patients who want to realign their smiles but want to avoid the look of traditional braces with brackets and wires. Traditional braces are often undesirable for many reasons. Traditional braces are:
Invisalign is a completely different way to reposition the teeth without the disadvantages of braces. Advantages of Invisalign include:
The process starts with a consultation appointment with Dr. Bradley Hepler. Patients undergo an initial evaluation, which may include x-rays to check the health of the smile. Once this has been achieved and patients are considered appropriate candidates for Invisalign, then the first step begins. A special device is used to take digitized impressions of the smile, including the upper and bottom dental arch if both are being treated. These digitized impressions are sent to the Invisalign laboratory where a number of clear aligner trays are created. The number of trays in a series will vary from patient to patient, especially based on the severity of misalignment. The trays are sent to Dr. Bradley Hepler at the Atlanta Center for Dental Health, allowing patients to return to the practice for an appointment to learn how to use them. Starting with the very first tray, patients will wear each one for two weeks at a time before progressing to the next tray in their series. The trays are worn all day and night and only removed for eating, drinking, brushing, and flossing. At the end of the two weeks, another tray is used, and patients continue through their series in the same manner. By the end of treatment, the teeth will be properly aligned. Patients can continue to use the final tray at night to maintain alignment, or they can talk to their dentist about having a retainer made to keep their new smile for many years to come!
Because Invisalign trays are removable, it is important for individuals to understand the importance of complying with their treatment. This means wearing the trays as advised to ensure the results are achieved as desired. If patients do not wear their trays, they may be required to pay extra to have new trays made to finish their treatment. Or they may never be able to achieve the results that were their original goal. Patients should comply with treatment to avoid additional costs or disruptions in their treatment that can be detrimental to their smile.
Determining candidacy for Invisalign treatment starts in the dental office with an evaluation with Dr. Bradley Hepler. He will assess patients and decide if their smiles can benefit from this treatment.
